Painting in
St. Augustine.

St. Augustine asks for two kinds of expertise: respect for older masonry, stucco and plaster in the historic city, and durable exterior systems for homes near the water. We match the preparation and products to the surface rather than forcing one system onto every home.

Local knowledge

What the old city does to paint here.

Old masonry breathes

Historic stucco and masonry can hold and release moisture differently from modern wall systems. Repairs, primers and coatings should be compatible with the existing material rather than simply sealing everything under a heavy film.

The historic district

Exterior changes in historic areas may require review. We can provide paint colors and coating information for the homeowner’s submission.

Near the water

Beach-side homes face salt, UV and wind exposure. Exterior preparation and coating recommendations should reflect the actual exposure of each elevation.

Humidity, all year

Shaded and moisture-prone elevations can develop mildew quickly. Thorough cleaning and appropriate coating selection are important parts of the system.

St. Augustine questions, answered.

What does painting cost in St. Augustine?−

Interior projects typically $4,800–$19,500 and exterior projects $7,200–$28,000. The scheduled estimate provides the actual project price.

Do you work with historic-district requirements?+

When exterior changes require review, we can provide the paint colors and coating information needed for the homeowner’s submission. Final approval remains with the applicable historic review authority.

How do you handle old lead paint?+

Homes built before 1978 get lead-safe prep: containment, no open dry sanding, and a full cleanup at the end of every day. We talk it through when we scope the project so you know exactly what the plan is.

Do you repair plaster?+

Yes. Where appropriate, we stabilize damaged plaster, repair and skim the surface, and blend the surrounding texture.

How often should a beach-side exterior be repainted?+

There is no universal repaint interval. Salt, UV, wind exposure, substrate condition, previous preparation and the coating system all affect service life.

Can you match the existing color after a repair or addition?+

Yes. We pull the match from a protected surface rather than a faded one, and we spray out a sample on the wall before committing, because fading means the can color and the wall color are rarely the same.
